Many people hope to get rich quick on the internet

Getting rich quick is a theory that is beaten to death on the internet. And yes it does happen.  The problem is that most who get rich quick are the very ones selling that theory. It works very well for those few who have honed that idea and made it sound so simple.

Well, I'm sorry to burst the bubble, but getting rich quick, even on the internet, happens infrequently. The internet is much like the modern day gold rush. There is money to be made, and there are riches to be found on the internet, but it takes preparation and it does take work.

Anyone could sell a worthless gold claim, and anyone who can spin a really good story can sell you on the idea that if you buy this product or that product, you will find riches quickly on the internet.

Can't I get rich quick?

Well, probably not. But, would you settle for getting rich more slowly, or at least making a really good income?

Small businesses are started on the internet everyday. A small business does not mean small money, it just means that it is not a fortune 500 type company. Huge companies like that employ thousands of people and the profits have to be divided up by many. Small business just means that it is started by one or two people and usually does not employ large numbers of people as it matures and becomes successful. Many small business owners make really good incomes, they just have to share it with fewer people.

Why start a business on the internet if you can't get rich quick?

The advantage of starting a business on the internet as opposed to building the traditional offline business are many even if they do not include getting rich quick.

	An online business can be built for pennies on the dollar as compared to an offline business.
	Online businesses have a larger community to draw customers from. In the offline business customers are usually drawn from the neighboring community. Online businesses have the advantage of a global community to draw from.
	Building an online business can be done during off hours while maintaining current employment. This allows a level of financial security during the building process.
	Automation can be used as your business begins to grow, eliminating the need for a lot of employees.
	An online business can be built without leasing or buying a building to house your business.
	Once your business is experiencing some success you can work on building other areas of business so that you can diversify your interests and secure yourself from fluctuations due to seasonality and circumstances.

Forget the get rich quick mentality and build a solid, enduring real online business

Dispense with the idea of getting rich quick on the internet. Do use the advantages the internet offers and build a business using good business principles, common sense, research into what businesses do well in the online world and what people are really looking for in terms of products and services.

Go to Internet Marketing and review the types of business that work well online. Do valid research and expect to invest some time and work building just as you would an off line business.
