Give Your Online Business Link Love

Every new online business needs an infusion of link love.

Creating an online business website takes a bit of work, but don't think the work is done once your site has been uploaded to the internet. Developing credibility through links is necessary for survival.

Getting your online business ready and uploaded to the internet is just the first step in a long journey. This is where the real work begins. In the very beginning, you will need to nurture this young website to get it noticed by the search engines and to begin getting traffic.

The first steps in building an online business are selecting the right product and service. Once you have made that decision, then you need to build a website that will meet the demands of you market and provide what they are looking for.

So we will assume that you have done the research, chosen your product or service well, and built an easy to navigate website with good relevant content.

Now you need links

Getting links to your website is probably the most important thing you can do once it is up and running. Lots of links.

There are many ways to get links:

1. Directory submissions
2. Article submissions
3. social bookmarking
4. forums
5. email signatures
6. reciprocal links
7. and more

One of the easiest ways to get links in the beginning, is reciprocal linking. Many other webmasters are also trying to get links, and will exchange with you. These are not the best links because they are two way, but they are a start.

Linking to sites that relate to yours is best, and looking before you leap is recommended. Look at the site. Does it have a links from the home page to the link page? Is it a good and useful website or just junk? You will be judged on who you hang out with, so take care here. If it is junk, or has questionable content then it's not worth the risk.

Much is said about getting links from forums, and this can be done, but it is very time consuming, and you need to tread lightly and check out the forum rules before you jump in.

Email signatures are easy. You send email, so why not add a signature? It may not bring huge benefits, but once it is set up it is automatic and takes no more time.

Directory submissions take some time but if you only submit where no reciprocal is required, it is a one way link, and most are free.

Articles submissions-These are a real plum. There are many article banks that you can submit articles to, with a bio box containing links back to your website. If you write the articles yourself, in most cases this is completely free.

Submit articles on a regular basis, and vary the links in your bio box to get links to all of your pages. Articles are a very effective method for getting one way links. The better your articles are, the more effective they will be. Write good useful articles with good spelling and grammar and you will see  results. Articles with a minimum of 400 words will get better circulation.

Social bookmarking is another good way to get one way links. There are many sites online, most are free. Read the guidelines and observe what others are doing that may work for your situation. Just don't overdo it and get banned. Everything is balance.

You will find more ways to get links to your online business as time goes on. Currently article marketing, and social bookmarking are two of the best.

The main thing is to be consistent. Set up a schedule and ink in some time for promoting your new business and stick to your schedule and keep at it on an ongoing basis.

The more links you get to your website, the more credibility it will have, and the more visitors will be sent to your site by the search engines.
