Home Based Business Checklist
To build moneymaking home based businesses, there are some logical
steps to be taken. And it will save you the time of backtracking if you take them in order. It will also contribute
to your chances for creating successful income producing businesses.
This website is laid out in the order in which you should implement these steps, but if you
skipped over them, here is a checklist for building a home based internet business.
1. You will need to have some ideas of what you want to market, and what areas of marketing you
want to get into. You will find an overview in Internet Marketing.
2. Once you have some ideas about what you want to market, you need to do the research. Don't
skip over this. Researching a market is one of the most important steps to take in developing a home based
business. Start your business with the most advantages for success that are available. Research what to market online.
3. When you have completed the research and decided on what to market, you need to develop
content. By this point you should have developed a good list of keywords around which you can build your content. You can draft page
content in notepad integrating your keywords, and transfer your content to an editor later. Use notepad, not
microsoft word, as it creates character that will conflict.
When you do first draft of content, just write without thinking of keyword density, provide what
you have determined your market is looking for. You can go back and refine later inserting your keywords where
needed to improve density. This way you will develop better content for the reader and well as please the search
engines.
4. You will need an editor to build a website for your online business. Here you'll find
suggestions for editors or website builders. building websites is
made much easier by using a WYSIWYG. It's much like using microsoft word since you don't have to know how to write
html code. Blogs will be an exception since they have a built-in
editor.
5. You will need a domain name for your business, and hosting. Choose your domain name well, because it represents your online business and should
say something about what you are marketing. I have recommended many resources that can be found for free, but
hosting is one tool you really should pay for. Free hosting may be tempting, but it has many drawbacks.
6. FTP or upload to the internet. Get your new website online. FTP programs can also be found
for free on the internet. If you choose XsitePro for your website builder, it has ftp built in. You fill your information in once
and it's ready to go. Any time you want to publish or add pages, you just click the publish icon and it takes
care of uploading automatically.
7. Begin promoting your new home based business. There are many online methods to help you
promote. These are just a few of those methods.

8. As they say, "rinse and repeat". Once you have gone through the process of setting up one
home based business you will have many things figured out. Schedule time on a daily basis to promote the business
you have online, and spend the rest of your time building yet another segment of your home based business.
All businesses go through cycles offline or online. Many retail businesses go through a slow
period once Christmas is over. Businesses that are related to personal finance or taxes have their best season in
the first few months of the year and then slow down. Businesses that are related to outdoor activities or gardening
will enjoy their best success from spring through summer.
By diversifying your home based businesses you can insulate yourself so that you can weather
different business cycles and maintain a good income year round.
