Make money online through innovation

 There are about as many ways to be profitable and make money online as the imagination can conjure up. Some ideas are hardly to be believed.

Among the weird and wacky are DogDoo. That's right. Apparently there is a market for it. They have been online for nearly eight years, so they are apparently making enough to pay the hosting fee. Their econo package is offered for $14.00

And then there are LED faucet lights which sell for $19.99. I guess you call that innovation. Well, if you need a novel gift for that person who has everything......

But seriously there are many ways to make money online

1. Auctions are a way to make money online without having to build your own website or do a lot of advertising. There are ways to refine your auction business once you've gotten under way and begun to figure out what sells, and where to get an ongoing supply at a price that can allow for a decent profit margin.

2. You can make money online by recommending affiliate products. This is best done from your own website with your own domain name. This method of making money online can also be refined so that you can create ways to keep visitors coming back and buying future items from you the affiliate, rather than the vendor getting all the action.

3. Tangible goods are another way to make money online through a website that deals in a specific line of products. Mall type sites are difficult to optimize and promote. When selling tangible products it is better to sell a narrow line of closely related items.

4. Creating information products is a good way to make money online. If you have a creative writing flair, this is a good way to go. Other than time there is little expense involved since products can be delivered electronically. Information products can be created on a wide variety of subjects as long as there is a market and you can provide the necessary information. How-to products do very well,  as do problem solving products, and these are very cost effective for making money online.

Information and how-to extends far beyond the topic of internet marketing. There are many niche topics that are hobby, pet, or health related that do well. also. This is not an exhaustive list. There are many more.

5. Create and offer products as private label products. Or create a service that provides private label products on a custom order basis about a specific topic and geared to specific keywords. Private label products are hot right now and the need for content makes them a great way to make money online.

Sometimes just finding a wacky twist for something can make it sell, as in the examples above. This is not new. In the offline world we had the pet rock, short lived but profitable while it lasted.

And what about the hula hoop? Will that ever stop? Every few years they re-surface and are wildly popular again, usually with new bells and whistles. The hula hoop is an ancient idea just reworked and marketed.

Once you have a site developed and getting good traffic there are many ways to add sources of revenue for making money online. If you have a good PR you can offer to feature text links for a fee. And, of course, there is always adsense which could be profitable if you have good traffic.

To increase or bring a continual flow of traffic, you can add a blog, a forum, a web directory, or an article directory.

Do consider what is needed to maintain any of these items and if it is worth the extra time and effort.

Building another website might be a better option.

Look at some of the things that are working in offline businesses and see if you could rework those ideas to make money online.
