PPC or Pay Per Click

PPC or pay per click is a way to get immediate traffic to a new website. Proceed with caution.

Every click costs whether it brings a sale or not.

Start with PPC by going to Google and study their information carefully so you understand what you are doing. When you begin a PPC campaign you decide what you will be willing to pay per click. There will be numbers already filled in, just over-write them. The same goes for your daily budget. They may suggest an amount, but you can change it to whatever you feel you can afford.

PPC ads are the ads that appear to the right in the search engine screen. You would like your PPC ad to place high on the page, but number one is not necessary. Actually the second or third position might be better.

As I said, go to Google and read up on the PPC process. How you add your keyword and the keywords you choose are important. Placing your keywords in quotes or brackets instead of leaving them as is, can be an important factor. Each of these actions means something specific to the search engine and will change your overall results. Be sure to read under keywords, the section on matching options.

Choose attention getting ads and use very targeted keywords. When writing your PPC ad, use notebook and make a rough draft, then start crunching characters. You are allowed 25 characters for your headline, and 35 for each of the next two lines and that's not much. Make a rough draft of your PPC ad and then cut out needless words. It's like writing a classified ad for a newspaper. As long as it makes sense and grabs interest a lot of words can be left out.

As with any type of paid advertising you should track your pay per click ads to see if it is money well spent. PPC can be very effective and it is immediate, but do take care and start out slow till you get the hang of it.
