What's happened to the Rich Jerk?

 Well, the Rich Jerk is doing just fine. If you haven't heard of the Rich Jerk then you must have been in the wilderness for the last year or so. The Rich Jerk's website went online a year and a half ago. His traffic ranking shot straight upward and is still there.

What does this Rich Jerk have going for him? He created a phenomonal advertising machine right into his sales letter. If you havent read the Rich Jerk"s sales letter you should. There are some lessons to be learned.

The marketing methods of the Rich Jerk are a bit much for some people and hard to take, but they are working. His sales letter is so outrageous that it does get attention. I first heard about him in a forum. Before long he was mentioned in forums everywhere. It created a sort of party-line effect.

For some time after the Rich Jerk"s sales letter came online, his identity was only known by a favored few. That was part of the mystique.

I've often wondered if he paid anything for advertising in the beginning, or just had a couple of buddies post in a forum. Once people began to see his sales letter, the word spread like wildfire.

While you may or may not admire the specific methods of the Rich Jerk, it is worthwhile to read his sales letter and think about the concept. This scale of advertising would be very costly if you had to pay for it. Go to Alexa and do a look-up on his site and you will see what I mean. Edit: Even now, nearly five years after this page was written The Rich Jerk maintains a good Alexa traffic rank.

This is creating a buzz! While doing the same thing would not be good, finding a way to take the basic concept the Rich Jerk used and tweaking it a bit could be very beneficial.
