Tips for Newbies
Tips for Newbies has been created to help those new to all
this internet marketing business and avoid as many pitfalls as possible.
The first thing I am going to tell you is that at some point you will probably get on a few mailing lists. I don't know
exactly what makes it happen. It could be if you apply for a business license, request information or whatever. But it is likely to happen. And
you will get mail. I mean snail mail.
And here is a major tip for Newbies. When you get that invitation in the mail to go to a seminar or conference at some big
hotel....think about it. They will lure you with promises that they will put you in the best internet business since the invention of the
microwave. They will promise riches, freebies and maybe lunch or dinner.
I'm not going to tell you not to go. The tip I have for Newbies is.....go if you want. Take a notebook and a couple of pens
with you, but leave your credit card at home!
They will undoubtedly inspire you, and you will pick up a couple of ideas. And when everybody rushes for the back table to
sign up and hand over their credit card, you will probably be calling me some pretty obscene names.
That's OK, I'll live. But more importantly Newbies you won't have added a substantial new balance to your
credit card, and you won't have two or three years of payments for an overpriced hosting and
merchant account on top of that substantial balance.
Of course you also won't have that cd with the pretty little templates or the three ring binder full of pages filled with
meaningless fluff either. No, I'm not going to say I am sorry. You can get templates for free on the internet, or if you want something a little
fancier you can get fancier templates for a decent price.
Newbies you can get most anything you need to start a business on the internet and for less. Good hosting is available at
reasonable prices. There are many ways to handle merchant processing that are reasonable as well. And, you can get a three ring binder
at Walmart.
Yes Newbies, I've been there and done that! But the three ring binder sure came in
handy!
That's it for this subject, but I have more Newbie tips and a couple more soapboxes, so move on if you dare.
