Use Web 2.0 for Visibility and Backlinks
Web 2.0 is a valuable asset whether you are at the beginning, or you are
already a successful online marketer.
Web 2.0 or social marketing can be utilized in many ways, and for many purposes. With all the
available forms out there today it can fill many marketing needs.
For someone new to online marketing using free blogs, Squidoo, Hubpoages etc, can be a way to
find out if you really are cut out to market online without a major outlay of money. Quite a number of experienced
marketers are finding social marketing a great way to market online without even owning a website.
Personally I prefer to have my own domain names and websites as the backbone of my business, and
use web 2.0 as satellite businesses or as tools to guide traffic to my main business. But everyone has to figure
out what works for them.
Try Your Wings With Web 2.0
As I said, social marketing is great for the beginner. Go build a Squidoo lens even if it is just
about a favorite hobby or interest. This will give you some experience.
Then if you are going to market online, find a niche to focus
on. Do the keyword research necessary to find out if the niche has
potential. Then you could begin and build free blogs, lenses etc around this niche and eventually inter-link them
to gain more clout in the search engines.
Web 2.0 Advantages For Established Marketers
Let's say you have a website that's been up and running for from a few weeks, to maybe a couple
of years and you are struggling to make it a financial success.
Building lenses centered about various aspects of your website topic or products as well as
using free blogs in the same way can help gain backlinks and build traffic to your site. If traffic rather than
sales from these pages is the important thing, use anchor text for your main keywords (tags) and point links to
your site pages.
This is a very simple explanation for a subject that is diverse and can just go on and on. Read
up on Web 2.0 or social marketing. See how people are using it to leverage their businesses online. There are many
many ways.
There are also many sites. I have mentioned free blogs, Squidoo, and Hubpages, but there are
hundreds of these sites, and so far they are not charging so it is a valuable and free resource.
Find out how each site works, and read their guidelines before you jump in.
