Web Hosting Paid or Free?

 © Illa Maden  November 2006

When considering whether to get web hosting that is paid or free, maybe a better question to ask yourself is how serious you are about building a real business.

Profitable home based businesses on the internet can actually be built at bargain prices compared with the cost of building a business offline.

Some questions to ponder in regard to free web hosting are:

1. How much storage space does free hosting offer?
2. What is the bandwidth?
3 Can you upgrade from free to paid web hosting if your site grows?

4. What happens when you need help?
5. Do they include PHP?
6. Do they put advertisements or banners on your site?
7. How many mailboxes?

These are just a few of the questions I would have about free web hosting.

Web hosting that's paid can be reasonably priced and offers many benefits

1. No banners or advertisements that are annoying at THE least, and may conflict with website content.
2. PHP
3. Paid web hosting offers service when a problem arises.

4. MySQL databases
5. Bandwidth and storage that is more than adequate.
6. CGI
7. Auto-responders, mailboxes, tracking and more

Web hosting paid vs web hosting free

Before you accept free web hosting, do a little research. Go to several paid web hosting sites and review the benefits they offer. Uptime is a benefit I didn't address, but is an important consideration. You can look at my favorite paid web hosting, which offers many extra benefits and is very responsive, and do a search on the web and compare plans and features.

Moving a website is not a fun activity. If your website grows will you have to find a paid web hosting service and move your website? If you are serious about a business this is something to think about. Consider the benefits of paid web hosting over free web hosting and make an informed decision.
