Shouting And Yelling From The Rooftops About
Skyp
I was reading a Time magazine excerpt Recently I wanted to have a look at a really wicked write-up in Fortune 500 Magazine and discovered that there is a thing called skype phones spreading over the internet .The two geezers who started it sold their website to ebay and are now very wealthy because of it.You are probably wondering what I am going on about. It is called voice over ip.This idea of calling someone for nothing over the internet is not an original one.
So all you have is rig up a phone to your computer and you can see and talk to anyone anywhere in the world using skipe. It is essentail you get a rapid connection as quickly as you can.Great pictures are not guaranteed however if your connection is slow.
So I went on Ebay and guess what, they are flogging phones already due to skyp.We think skype has been in existence for a year to date and it is proving immensely popular.
The bigger commercial telecom firms are beginning to sell voice over internet protocol packages.I guess the question remains is it commercially viable. Will the net spell the end for voice over ip
If previous experience is anything to go by then we can expect the big players to look at voip in microscopic detail. Then inevitably the feds will enter and regulate it.At the moment skype makes its money by charging people who phone land lines from their computer using it
The next big thing which voip are making a cheeky move towards is the idea of web conferencing. Web video conferencing was a huge idea about 10 years ago but then fell off the radar but now it is making a return
We are also seeing a huge amount of people using audio and video on the web now that download speeds are that much quicker. Many people think video and audio will be a passing fad but all the evidence points in the other direction.
But one thing is for sure, it's not just hype they're muttering about, and only time will tell if the general public will catch on when they get their free skype download. The question remains will voip take over from the phone.
